Xbox series X stock – live: Today’s UK restock news from Very and more as Halo edition releases – The Independent

Microsoft announces Xbox Series X mini fridge release date

The Xbox series X just celebrated its first birthday. And yet, despite the series X being around for a whole 12 months, it’s stick very tricky to buy, with severe stock shortages both online and in-store, right across the UK.

Bottlenecks in the manufacturing process as a result of a worldwide supply chain crisis and chip shortage have slowed the production of Microsoft’s next-generation console to a crawl, leaving gamers in the UK wondering where to buy an Xbox.

The less powerful and much cheaper Xbox series S is easier to find, but the more advanced Xbox series X sells out within minutes of hitting the shelves. Knowing when and where the newest Xbox will be restocked next is key to grabbing one before they sell out again.

That’s why we launched our Xbox stock alerts liveblog. If you’re wondering where to buy an Xbox series X in the UK today, we’re here to help. Below, we’ll update you with the latest live restock updates as soon as they happen, as well as any news on predicted restock dates, new games and accessories and milestone events.

Best TV Black Friday 2021 deals

(The Independent)

Black Friday is synonymous with heavily discounted televisions. While the sight of shoppers brawling over a cheap Sony Bravia is thankfully a thing of the past, the very best Black Friday TV deals are still highly sought-after online.

Earlier in November, AO, Currys and Studio all kicked off their Black Friday celebrations early, heavily discounting some of their bestselling TVs by up to £500. Before Black Friday officially begins on 26 November, we’ve already found some eye-catching offers, which we’ve compiled in our guide to the best TV Black Friday deals.

‘Battlefield 2042’ reviews are landing

The latest entry in the long-running Battlefield series releases later this week, though fans who pre-ordered Battlefield 2042 (£59.99, Amazon.co.uk) can start playing from today.

The near-future multiplayer FPS boasts dynamic maps with world-changing weather events such as tornadoes that can tear through the map, shake things up and rearrange the battlefield.

There’s also a fresh focus on co-operative teamplay, with early reviews either praising or criticising Battlefield 2042’s obfuscated scoreboard, which doesn’t rank individual players against one another. Great news if you’re a bit rubbish at shooting and just want to have some fun.

‘Elden Ring’ network test comes to an end

Elden Ring (£54.99, Argos.co.uk) opened its doors to players over the weekend. A lucky few were invited to take part in a network test to see if the game’s servers could handle a bunch of real players tumbling around and scrapping with dragons.

(FromSoftware)

Developed by FromSoftware, the team behind cult hit RPG Dark Souls, the game is an open world dark fantasy RPG, full of swords and quests and giant boss fights. The early preview gave players a first glimpse of this new adventure and ended this morning.

Elden Ring launches on Xbox series X and Xbox One in February 2022.

Could Currys be next to restock the Xbox series X?

Where else might the Xbox series X appear in stock today?

We wish we had a firmer rumour to share, but we can make an educated guess based on what we know. Our big spreadsheet of predicted restock times – and our prescient gut – firmly suggests that Currys is next in line to drop, based on the retailer’s typical restocking patterns.

Keep the app close at hand. Currys has been known in the past to make Xbox series X bundles available in-app before selling them online.

How to buy an Xbox series X online

While there are no restocks to report on, let’s go over some of basic tips when it comes to securing a console. Preparation is key to success, and there are a bunch of things you can do right now to ensure you’re ready when the next restock happens.

  • Register an account and save your payment details at each of the retailers that stock the Xbox series X. They’re listed in the main article above
  • Are you a BT customer, or know somebody who is? Register your interest on the BT site to get exclusive access to BT’s next drop
  • Download each retailer’s app (if they have one) and add the Xbox series X to your wish list or “save for later” list
  • When the console drops, use the link in your wish list to add the Xbox to your trolley – this usually has a higher success rate than navigating through the website
  • Keep note of the prices of bundles to ensure you’re getting a good deal. Rounding up, the console itself is £450, controllers are £50, the official headset is £90, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate costs £11 per month. Newly released game are £60, but retailers usually bundle older games with the console
  • The pay-as-you-go Xbox All Access programme is good value for money, so long as you don’t already have a Game Pass subscription

When does the Microsoft Store restock?

The Microsoft Store is doesn’t play by the rules and seemingly restocks whenever it bloomin’ well feels like it.

We’ve seen Xbox restocks happen at 6pm, we’ve seen them happen at 8am, we’ve even seen them happen at the weekend when everybody should be out riding their bikes.

The official store last had any stock on 11 November, last Thursday, and we predict it could pop up again with more availability later today.

The ‘Halo Infinite’ limited edition Xbox launches today

(Microsoft)

The Halo Infinite limited edition Xbox series X bundle officially launches today. But hey, there’s also no stock of this one either.

Announced on 25 August at Microsoft’s Gamescom showcase, pre-orders for the branded console immediately sold out at the Microsoft Store and Game.

Since then, Game has re-opened its pre-orders a couple of times, each time selling out in minutes. But the Microsoft Store has been less liberal with its supply, which suggests to us that the official retailer could be holding back some stock to sell today.

The Halo Infinite limited edition Xbox series X comes with Halo Infinite pre-loaded on it and costs £479.99. That’s only £30 more than the basic console.
